Daunte Culpepper

Apparently Daunte Culpepper was a bit aggravated last week prior to the Detroit Lions’s annual Thanksgiving game, when he learned that Matthew Stafford would be getting the start.  Culpepper reportedly stated “Not mediocre enough?!?  My middle name is Mediocre!  Actually it’s just Rachard, but don’t tell anyone.”

Actually he didn’t say that at all, but seriously Daunte, give it a rest.  I’ll grant you, you had like 3 great seasons.  But you haven’t played more than 7 games since 2004, nor have you had a passer rating higher than 78.0  Give it a rest.  We don’t need any more drama around here.  We’re not in a playoff hunt and there’s nothing meaningful riding on this season other than to try and get a few more wins under our belt.  What we do need is to solidify a fragmented team behind a real leader, someone who will be here and be playing for the next 5-6 seasons.  So please, keep it down until you have something to contribute.
